When he moves his car while drunk, Mark loses his driver’s license and has to take an MPA. At a class, he meets Helena and tries to stay sober with her, but temptations lurk everywhere.
As with most, if not all, addictions, those affected can’t see it
After Mark’s first failed attempt at getting sober, Helen mentioned that he only managed to stay sober for 27 days [00:41:50]. Then [00:42:35] in Mark’s apartment, the pinned calendar pages said he only managed to stay sober for 25 days.
So, no pun intended here, as always
And the movie makes that clear from the beginning. They even talk and tell our main character what he’s probably thinking.
Lau is a great actor, he really gives it his all
It doesn’t happen to him – at least not to the point of helping him or making him change anything. The story is predictable, but you stick with it because you’re fascinated by the performances – including those of the other players (Tschirner to name one).
Watch at home!
Clichés and suspension of disbelief go hand in hand – or should. It’s best to watch sober…
